The orange of her bouquet is gasp-worthy! Let's ponder for a moment the symbolism of how we should all be florists. 😉
Life gives us all bright, gorgeous flowers. But life doesn't give us completed bouquets.

Live in gratitude.
See what's before you.
Work hard.
And leave the world a little more beautiful than you found it.

On possible the worst day of my life I came home to a package from a friend. In it was a shadow box with dried flowers and a quote that said, "May all your weeds be wildflowers." We have a lot to learn from wildflowers. So feminine yet so resilient. So colorful and alive yet rooted and still. Spreading joy, but content just to be here.

To you small business owners out there,
You brides with your whole life changing,
You mothers and daughters and sisters
You are a wildflower.

"It was the way you laughed. I knew I wanted that in my life." R.M. Drake

Wanna get in on a lil' secret? I've been dating a fantastic man for the last six months. And the other night we stayed up until the goofy hours talking in his backyard. And his son got home from work and went inside, and as we kept talking the conversation turned snort-funny. Our laughter rolled through the whole yard and I knew his son could hear it from his window. And I hoped he would remember that. To find someone you can laugh that hard with. Looking at the last six months, that's one thing that stands out the most. Lots and lots of making each other laugh. 🙂

There are a few things in life that words fail on. No quote has ever encompassed it, no song has even fully captured it. And one of those things is your girlfriends. Your tribe. The sort that come clean your encrusted fridge for you when you're moving, or who make you snort-laugh in a nice restaurant. After my divorce a practically sister told me, "You're not spending holidays alone. You are ALWAYS welcome, even on Christmas." She showed me the attitude and action that bumps someone from friend to family.

So grateful for my women today. 🙂

Oh my goodness, this shot kills me. Who doesn't love that moment of, "You thought we were kissing? Hang on, I can't get over how darling you are."

When I first started getting into wedding magazines I thought about how you hear these statistics that only 1 in 10 businesses make it past the first year. And now 2 years in I think about what incorrect information that implies. It suggests that the idea wasn't good enough, the business couldn't get off the ground. When in fact, I think most small business owners are smart enough not to quit their day job if an idea carries no weight. They try it out first, they aim. But then actually running the business is HARD. Not to be dramatic, but one might say it can suck you dry, right down to your bone marrow. And living that, even if the idea is good, burns them out.
However, I'm finding the beauty lies in getting a team. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to see the ladies that have come on board with us!! Now with a great product in one hand, and killer humans in the other, we're gone rock this. ;)

Alright! For the last several months Northern Utah Weddings and Utah Valley Weddings have been building our team, training, learning ropes, rockin' it, confused, clarifying, growing, and now we are ready to make some magic happen!! Would it be easier if we'd only started with one issue? Probably. Did we do that? NOPE. Both magazines will be releasing within the month! Then we'll be back to doing 3 month cycles! Thank you to all the remarkable photographers in particular, who have been so patient!!

When I was a girl the trait that my parents valued most was being deep. And therefore, what was the most bleh was being shallow. Clothing was never talked about, never used as a means of expression. And I struggled socially because of it. Growing up I have learned that every day you should put effort into how you dress because your appearance speaks. And what it says should be, "I respect myself so you should respect me too." How we dress on the outside is not only a reflection of how we feel on the inside, but visa versa. If you dress in pajamas all day, you will accomplish nothing, guaranteed. Treat yourself with the respect you deserve in this very most base level self-care. And to tie it into weddings, here's how you can help your bridesmaids do that! I dare them to try on these items and not feel like a million bucks.
